TI Reads: Calling All Book Lovers!
What is TI Reads?
TI Reads is a year-long program designed to bring the Temple Israel community together by reading, discussing, and sharing special and important books. It is your chance to:
- Read great Jewish literature
- Engage in stimulating discussions based on prize-winning literature
- Connect with people in the TI community who share your interests
What books will we read?
We will read at least three books during the year. These are the books for the 2007/2008 year:
-
The Yiddish Policemen's Union: A Novel by Michael Chabon
-
I am Jewish: Personal Reflections Inspired by the Last Words of Daniel Pearl by Judea Pearl (editor), and Ruth Pearl (editor)
-
Coming Together, Coming Apart: A Memoir of Heartbreak & Promise in Israel by Daniel Gordis
How do I participate?
Try any or all of the activities below, in any order:
- Read one or more of the suggested books
- Let us know you've read a book (go to www.ti-reads.org or drop a note in the Adult/Family Ed box)
- Visit our website to comment on books and read your friends' comments
- Participate in book discussions and special events to be publicized throughout the year
What are the events?
Plan to attend whether or not you've read the books. Please let us know if you are interested in facilitating a book discussion.
Where do I start? Start reading!
To register as a participant, indicate what books you've completed, volunteer, make suggestions, find out about events, leave a note in the Adult/Family Ed box or contact Susan Cetlin, scetlin@comcast.net or Janet Aronson, jkaronson@comcast.net .
