Communities
In addition to the alphabetical list of communities represented on the Temple Israel Web site, the following list identifies all communities remembered by Temple Israel. The list is by country, but remember that borders changed frequently in the 20th century. Galacia was the part of Poland ruled by Austria and Austria-Hungary for most of the 19th century until the end of World War I. Before WWI, Belarus was part of Russia. Between WWI and WWII, half of Belarus was part of the Soviet Union and half was part of Poland.
