Resetting the Table- June, 2019

Over the past few months, Temple Israel’s Adult and Family Ed. Committee has been discussing the issues of divergent opinions relating to the State of Israel within our TI community. In order to bring this important conversation into a positive framework, we have engaged an organization called Resetting the Table, thanks to a grant from CJP. Resetting the Table runs programs designed to aid the Jewish community in engaging in constructive dialogue on Israel.

You are invited to participate in either or both of two special programs in June:

Speaking across Differences on Israel (Sun June 2, 9:45am-12:45pm)
Resetting the Table’s celebrated Speaking across Differences workshop offers both skill-building for charged conversations on Israel and a forum for dialogue across disagreement, even in the face of strong differences. Participants exchange views and experiences, surface areas of commonality and disagreement, and practice communication skills for having Israel conversations across political divides in ways that invite curiosity and constructive debate.

Town Square on Israel (Wed June 12, 7:30-9:30pm)
Resetting the Table’s Town Square is a rare opportunity for meaningful, face to face conversation on Israel supported by highly skilled facilitators. Participants will have the opportunity to speak to one another in small groups on issues of shared concern, name what matters most to them, and remain connected and receptive even when differences arise. Common Israel-related topics include: Roles and Responsibilities of US Jews and Boundaries of Legitimate, Illegitimate Public Criticism, and participants' reactions to current events and controversies.

To build and strengthen our synagogue community, it is important that we are able to come together to talk and learn from each other even when we disagree. The program is not intended to promote any particular position about Israel. Your voice will make an important contribution to the success of the program and to the strength of our community.

To ensure the quality of the program, space is strictly limited; open to TI members only. Please RSVP below.
