Irene Stern Frielich Presents Shattered Stars/Healing Hearts: Journeys Through Courage, Compassion, and Kindness Join us to learn about Irene’s moving transformation traveling in her father’s footsteps.

Irene’s quest began in 2017, when she re-discovered documents and photographs as well as the testimony video her father had made 24 years earlier, just before his death in 1994. She immersed herself into her father’s world of survival, loss, and hope, leading her on a quest to “touch” her father’s childhood and uncover the story of his Holocaust survival in Germany and Netherlands
Through her subsequent research and three visits to Germany and Netherlands, Irene’s own life was transformed. She met with the descendants of people who played important roles in her father’s story and visited each place where her father encountered the people who enabled him to survive from 1938 through liberation in 1945.
Meet the 18 individuals—the coffee roaster and baker, the farmers and clergy and police—who demonstrated the courage, compassion, and kindness that enabled Irene’s family to survive.
