Music

From the indelible tunes of Cantor Harold Lew, to the stylings of Cantor Steven Dress and the innovations he brought to adult and children's choirs and concerts, Temple Israel has always boasted a rich musical tradition. We are blessed with many congregants who regularly serve as shaliah tzibur, leading services from daily minyan, to Shabbat and Festivals, to High Holy Days.

Long ago, TI's Cultural Arts Committee and the Gamm Family introduced the Sandra Gamm Memorial Concert Series, welcoming both the classics and innovative, including memorable performances of The Cantor's Couch, featuring Cantor Jack Mendelson; Banot; Craig Taubman; Safam; the Zamir Chorale and Shuly Nathan.

Today, we also boast the a cappella talents of Shir Rhythm, performing a variety of musical styles including Jewish (sacred and folk), Israeli pop, and Classic Rock-- and in June 2018 sang the National Anthem at Fenway Park, with none other than Keith Lockhart in attendance.
