Disability Awareness Shabbat
Saturday, February 11, 2023 • 20 Shevat 5783
9:00 AM - 12:00 PMThe Temple Israel Inclusion Committee will sponsor a special Musaf and Kiddush on February 11 as part of our regular Shabbat morning service.
- Jewish Disability Awareness, Acceptance, and Inclusion Month (JDAIM) is a unified effort among Jewish organizations worldwide to raise awareness and foster inclusion of people with disability and those who love them.
- JDAAIM is observed each February
- One particular area of need in our community relates to individuals with dementia.
- People with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, or other forms of cognitive challenges can feel invisible and forgotten at a time when religious faith could be a powerful source of comfort and support for them and their families.
- Beginning Shabbat February 11, 2023, we aim to increase awareness, prompt discussion, and begin an educational process to promote a dementia friendly Temple Israel community and to support those affected by Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.
