Tuesday, May 21, 2024 13 Iyyar 5784

7:45 PM - 9:30 PMTemple Israel

Hosted with Young Israel of Sharon

Times of Israel journalist Jessica Steinberg will speak about her pivot back to hard news from arts and culture coverage during this war, as she reports, writes and podcasts about those who survived, were taken hostage or killed on October 7.

As the days and weeks of the war mounted, artists and musicians began reacting to the situation and Jessica’s talk will include the music and art created in recent weeks as Israeli society reacts to life right now.

About Jessica
Jessica Steinberg is the long-time arts and culture editor for The Times of Israel, who pivoted to coverage of the hostages taken captive to Gaza during the Hamas terrorist attacks of October 7, speaking to their families, those who have been released, covering their stories in articles and the Daily Briefing podcasts.

A former New Yorker, she has been living in Israel for the last 28 years, reporting on the conflict and situation in Israel, focusing on how Israeli society pivots and handles war, in art, music, TV and film, culinary arts and design.

Jessica lives in Jerusalem with her husband and twin teenage sons, and has also delved into children's book writing. Her first book was "Not This Turkey," which became a PJ Library selection, and she is currently working on a series about kids at a Jewish summer camp.
