Gabriella Spitzer Artist Bio

Gabriella Spitzer is an environmental planner and visual artist based in Boston, MA. They work at the intersection of climate change, “natural” disasters, risk communication, and land use policy and planning. Their art reflects their deep commitment to grappling with Jewish text and tradition, Jewish and queer social justice traditions, and the Torah of the natural world. They work in a variety of media, including silk paints on silk, acrylics on canvas, watercolors on paper and other surfaces, and mixed media.

Gabriella is the author and artist of Haggadah Min HaMeitzar, published by Ben Yehudah Press in spring 2023. The haggadah, like their art generally, provides a queer and environmental voice rooted in deep relationship with text and tradition.

Gabriella lives in Boston with their partner Sandy and their two enormous cats. They are an active member of Nehar Shalom Community Synagogue of Jamaica Plain.

You can find more information about Gabriella’s art at their website: www.gabriellaspitzer.com
