Rabbi Itamar Lapid was born and raised on Kibbutz Ayelet-HaShahar in the upper Galilee. Following 5 years of army service, he began his journey in Israeli Jewish Renewal. Itamar was a senior faculty member at HaMidrasha-Oranim, where he taught subjects ranging from Hebrew Poetry to Halachic Dilemmas for 17 years.

In his own community of Shimshit, he is a spiritual guide, and became a leader in the Jewish Renewal movement of Israeli Congregations. He is a sought-after lecturer on topics of Jewish identity in programming ranging from teens to pensioners. Itamar is a cofounder of Midreshet HaShiluv Natur, a collaborative beit midrash with religious and secular participants. He is also a cofounder and teacher in Madrassa/Midrasha, which pursues Arab–Jewish coexistence through education in the Galilee. Currently Itamar is on the faculty at the Mandel Leadership Institute in the north.

Together with a team of scholars and colleagues in the Galilee, Itamar is developing a unique center for educational dialog inspired by the spirit of ancient Tzippori where the Mishnah was redacted.

Itamar lives near Tzippori, in Shimshit - a young community in the lower Galilee, with his wife and their three kids.
