Matanot L'evyonim - Gifts for the poor for Purim

Spread Purim Joy -
and Fulfill One of Purim’s Central Mitzvot

Donate Now to Yad Chessed!
For over 30 years Yad Chessed has worked to address the needs of Jews in our community who are struggling with financial and food insecurity. With the support of donors, synagogues, schools and partner organizations, Yad Chessed’s team of social workers provides swift emergency financial assistance, grocery gift cards, and compassionate care, advice, and referrals to those in need.

From now until Purim Day (11am on Friday 2/26), Yad Chessed will be collecting monetary donations and group pledges to fulfill the mitzvah of Matanot L’evyonim. The mitzvah of helping those in need is central to the spirit of Purim and reminds us that we are obligated and honored to extend a hand in times of joy and celebration. In accordance with Jewish law, the funds raised for Matanot L’evyonim will then be distributed on Purim Day itself so our neighbors in need can purchase food for themselves and their families. Last year, our generous community of supporters – raised over $100,000 to help people afford food!

While we may be celebrating Purim differently this year, we know our community will still come together to donate to Yad Chessed and remember those in need.

You can donate using paypal or a credit card online at

2021 Video Purim Shpiel

Although we won’t be gathering in the traditional way on Purim this year, we invite you to watch our uplifting and heartwarming video Purim Shpiel 2021.

This year’s Shpiel is a blend of classic songs from years gone by, plus 5 brand new songs, topped off with a community sing-along. We thank everyone in our TI community who contributed to our fun Purim Shpiel Grand Finale.

Watch this short video (on the side) to give you a taste of what’s in store.

Plan to watch the VIRTUAL PURIM SHPIEL 2021 to see all of the smiling faces of your TI community merry-makers:

Premier Presentation:  Thursday, February 25 at the conclusion of the Megillah reading.

(The link to the video will remain on the website for future viewing enjoyment, until Monday, March 1st.)

This pandemic can’t won’t stop us from singing, laughing and having fun (virtually) together!

We can’t wait to feel the joy of "being together” on Purim!
